Light and medium tanks
BT-7
Description
The third modification of the light Soviet BT ("fast tank"). Produced until 1940, this unit was later replaced by the legendary T-34. In total, over 5,000 of these machines were produced.
The BT-7 differed from its predecessors in its enhanced armor protection, and its use of an M-17T aircraft engine for increased power.
The tank was simple to manufacture, and boasted good speed and maneuverability, but the engine was very "greedy" and proved a frightful fire hazard: a single shot could set the machine ablaze.
