Assault Infantry

Description

From their experience in World War I, German command concluded that the rifle was too uncomfortable and unwieldy for trench warfare. Their infantryman required a weapon more suited to such conditions.

The first Stormtroopers were formed during World War I, and soon tested their tactics near the English town of Cambrai. During World War II, these assault troops were actively involved in the Battle of Stalingrad, during which they were almost entirely wiped out.

These units were often armed with an MP-38 or MP-40, often mistakenly identified as a Schmeisser, although Hugo Schmeisser was not involved in their creation.
