Light and medium tanks
Panzer III Ausf.F
Description
Modification of the standard German tank PzKpfw III, of which about 600 were made.
Production began in 1939 across the companies Daimler-Benz, Henschel, MAN, Alcetas and FAMO.
From August 1940 to 1942, the 37mm guns of the early tanks were replaced by 50mm guns, and the armor plates were raised for increased headroom. Modified tanks with reinforced armor remained in service up to July 1944.
The PzKpfw III F represented a huge amount of technological innovation, but in many ways it still remained inferior to its Soviet counterparts.
