72-K anti-aircraft gun

The 1940 Soviet 25 mm 72-K anti-aircraft gun was one of the most mass-produced air defence weapons at the rifle regiment level. Despite its relatively small weight, user friendliness, and mobility, it was nevertheless criticized when compared with similar guns from other countries.

It was repeatedly modified, with one variant receiving a gun shield, and remained operational for long after the war.

In addition to hitting aircraft, these guns were able to deliver effective fire at ground targets.

Due to its usefulness, the 72-K was the air defence weapon most often mounted on Soviet Army ships and trains.
