Because of the ideology of the "master race", German scientific research was at a huge disadvantage: those driven from Germany included such luminaries as Albert Einstein, Lise Meitner, James Franck, and Gustav Hertz, to name a few. Germany designed the jet plane, made advances in medicine and chemistry (including the creation of synthetic materials), and other scientific fields.
